The five
paintings you see here--which I consider a single work of
art--were inspired by a tiny photograph encountered in the
side margin of a book about the French Impressionists.
"Laundresses in Paris, c. 1870" was the only description
given.
From that
simple inspiration, the brush quickly took over as I watched
"Five Laundresses" emerge as a single work on five different
canvases.
